Punchline Talks GREEN, “Ya Dummy!”

Story by Sydney Fontaine

Steve Soboalsi is the Vocalist/Guitarist for Pittsburgh alternative pop rock band, Punchline. He took some time to speak his mind about the environmental issues of today and how he likes to be Incredibly Green!

1. Why do you think it’s important for the youth to be involved with and care about the environmental issues today?

I think it’s important for youth to be trained to be green, because it’s incredibly lazy to not care and incredibly easy to clean up after
yourself

2. What does “going green” mean to you?

Going green means is the opposite of apathy.  Take a second and put that RC Cola can in a recycling bin ya dummy!

3. Have you come across a venue that’s been really eco-friendly and has recycling bins near every trashcan etc.?

No venues come to mind. In fact, I think it’s a shame that bars/clubs aren’t required by law to recycle!

4. Who in the band is the most eco-friendly? Who’s always going around, gathering cans, recycling a lot etc?

Pending my band’s permission I would like to crown myself the greenest dude in Punchline.

5. Did you grow up in an environmentally-friendly family?

My family began the recycle when the program was implemented in our town.  For a long time paper was not accepted.  Now they recycle everything.

6. What do you think is the easiest way that you’ve made your life more green?

I recycle in my home and prefer to live in the city where I do not have to drive much.  It took a few weeks to get in the habit of recycling, but now it is second nature!

7. What do you think is the most environmental issue today? Besides the oil spill because that’s really obvious.

Bars must recycle.  What a bunch of dirtbags.

8. Last but not least, what’s your favorite green tip that you wanna give to your fans?

Although we may die long before the problems of this planet begin to close in on us, take a moment and clean up after yourself and your dirty neighbor.
