Warped Eco Update: Volunteers in Ventura

“We met these guys last year on the first day of warped tour. They came up to the booth because they paid for their ticket with recycling at home. They came back for several days to join us last year and this year and even came as far as PHX! All paid for with bottles and cans.” – Tara

Chipotle in Torrance

My family’s favorite organic restaurant is Chipotle since we are Mexican. When we dine out we order the large organic burritos because they are very tasty yet healthy. My mom is my main inspiration to be as green as possible. Since she was raised in poverty she found ways to make it through the week on a tight budget. I found that most of the things she buys are organic and mainly for vegetarians.

There is this cute vegetable garden by the old city library grows squashes, tomatoes, and peppers. I thought it would be really fun to somehow grow my own garden in my backyard.

Follow Your Heart in Canoga Park

so my local green inspiration would probably be the health food store “follow your heart” or “whole foods.” i love that they’re focus is health conscious, earth conscious eating. they offer a genuine “green” option/lifestyle for eating and becoming healthy.
also, there are a few celebs that inspire me to go out and be green and be the change we all want to see.
for example, brad pitt inspires me because of the effort he is making with his eco achievements. he’s one of hollywoods biggest, busiest actors. yet he still finds time to make the earth a better, healthier place.
also, i love love lovee cameron diaz. homegirl bought a prius to go green and her mtv show “trippin” encourages and teaches people about green travel. i’ve even used a few of her tips in my most recent travel expedition :)
i recently stumbled into a website run by rachel mcadams. she created “green is sexy”, an eco-friendly website that encourages fans to go green.
also, alicia silverstone is practically my hero. clueless is one of my most favorite movies so to know that she’s an advocate for the green lifestyle made it all the sweeter! she lives in an eco-friendly house–with an organic veggie garden–in LA with a pack of rescued dogs. she created her own line of natural cosmetics. and she’s vegan and she wrote a book called “the kind diet.” which i’ve heard is a pretty good read.
orlando bloom renovated his home with solar panels and he also drives a hybrid car. shmexy! ;)

these are only a few celebrities and places that advocate for the green, eco-friendly lifestyle. if they can help out and make a difference and advocate for change in their busy lives then so can we!
