i went in to get get my haircut at the beginning of the summer at a place called Birds Barbershop in Austin Tx. They had some trash cans around the place with signs on them that read “Hair only. Save the world.” once i sat down i asked the girl that was cutting my hair what the signs were for and she told me that they were sending all the hair to the gulf to help soak up the oil.

Sprouts, which is an organic green grocery store across the road. I get organic peanut butter from there but it’s always oily on top so I have to stir a whole lot but it’s worth it!

The most green-inspiring thing in my town is this new grocery store called “Sprout”. Inside, they have all sorts of organic produce, which is wonderful, because they taste delicious and don’t put harmful toxins in the air. And just recently the main road outside of my house has started this thing, where all along the street they’ve just planted a brand new tree. Which hopefully will not only making the street prettier but help the plant.

While living in corpus christi, i worked at kohls. They were always very particular about the what we did with things because they wanted to be environmentally friendly. we used to recycle everything, and i picked up on that and took it home with me and started changing my life style too.

There is a San Antonio restaurant called “green.” Not only is it the only marketed vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the city, it also encourages green and energy-efficient business practices. The actual restaurant was built from an existing structure and uses recycled and reused equipment. The food is also certified organic and free-range and has a recycling dumpster for cardboard. It has been really rewarding to see this restaurant and lifestyle thrive in this city where excess and consumerism is encouraged.
